Bracket for Gulf Coast Showcase tournament unveiled

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois will face St. Bonaventure of the Atlantic 10 Conference in the opening round of the inaugural Gulf Coast Showcase men's basketball tournament at Germain Arena in Estero, Fla. on Monday, Nov. 25.
Tournament organizers unveiled the eight-team bracket on Friday morning. The Bonnies return three starters, led by Matthew Right (7.3 points), from a team that finished 14-15 a year ago. The Salukis return two starters, including fifth-year senior Desmar Jackson (15.1 points) off last year's 14-17 squad.
SIU is 2-0 all-time in the series against St. Bonaventure, with victories over the Bonnies in 1962 and 1994.
The Salukis will play either Wagner or Stetson in the second round of the tournament on Nov. 26. The final opponent on Nov. 27 will come from the group of Louisiana Tech, UNC Greensboro, UIC or San Diego.
Preliminary game participants include Centenary College, Roosevelt University, Greensboro College, San Diego Christian and Missouri S&T. The Salukis will host Division II Missouri S&T on Nov. 21.
Game times are subject to possible television coverage and will be announced at a later date.
