Women's Basketball announces 2013-14 schedule

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Southern Illinois women's basketball team announced its 2013-14 schedule Wednesday, which is highlighted by a six-game homestand and a matchup with in-state Big Ten member Illinois.
Southern opens its 2013-14 slate with a pair of exhibition matchups against Maryville (Oct. 25) and Lindenwood (Nov. 2) before opening the regular season at SIU Arena against Wright State (Nov. 8) and Austin Peay (Nov. 12).
The Salukis open a five-game road swing Nov. 18 at IPFW before traveling to Champaign, Ill., to face the Fighting Illini on November 21. After Thanksgiving, Southern rounds out its road swing at Marshall (Nov. 27), Central Arkansas (Dec. 2) and Southeast Missouri State (Dec. 4).
Southern ends its non-conference schedule with four home games against Eastern Illinois (Dec. 16), Chicago State (Dec. 20), UT Martin (Dec. 23) and Morehead State before opening Missouri Valley Conference play in Carbondale January 2 and 4 against Bradley and new MVC member Loyola.
The Salukis will play five of their first seven Valley games at SIU Arena with home matchups against Illinois State (Jan. 17), Indiana State (Jan. 19) and Evansville (Jan. 26) before rounding out its conference home schedule against Northern Iowa (Feb. 6), Drake (Feb. 8), Missouri State (Feb. 27) and Wichita State (March 1).
The MVC Tournament is set for March 13-16 at the Family Arena in St. Charles, Mo.
