Southern Illinois University guards Desmar Jackson and Anthony Beane were named to the Missouri Valley Conference All-Conference Second Team, the league announced Tuesday.
They become the first Saluki players to earn All-Conference honors since 2008, when Randal Falker took home first-team honors and Bryan Mullins was named to the second team.
Jackson finished second in the league in scoring average (18.8 points) and first in steals (2.4). The 6-foot-5 senior leads SIU in scoring, rebounding, assists, steals and free throws -- the only player in school history to lead all five categories. Jackson was also named to the MVC's All-Defensive team.
Beane came on strong at the end of the season, winning the league's Player of the Week award three times. He averaged 14.6 points on the season and scored 20 or more in eight of the team's last 10 games.
Wichita State dominated the all-league units as three WSU starters made the first team. Voting was conducted by coaches, sports information directors and a media panel (voters could not vote for their own student-athlete.)
