ROCHESTER, Minn. -- Southern Illinois senior-to-be Tyler Rolland was named an all-star in the Northwoods League, the league announced on Friday. Rolland earned a spot on the team after batting .295 through 45 games so far this summer.
Rolland, who plays for the Thunder Bay Border Cats, was selected to the 25-man North Division squad. He leads the league in hit-by-pitch, taking 12. In addition to his .295 batting average, he has a .430 on-base percentage and four stolen bases. He had a 10-game hitting streak earlier in the summer and has 15 multi-hit games through 45 total games played. Rolland leads his team in hits, batting average, runs scored, HBPs and walks.
Rolland joins Connor Kopach and Ryan Sabo as an all-star in their respective summer leagues. Kopach was selected as an all-star representing the DuPage County Hounds of the Midwest Collegiate League, and Sabo was selected an all-star with the Terre Haute Rex of the Prospect League.
