Pruitt, Neidig earn national weekly positional honors from CFPA

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois tight end MyCole Pruitt and punter Nick Neidig earned national weekly positional honors from the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA), as announced today by the organization. Pruitt earned FCS National Tight End of the Week honors for the second-straight week, and Neidig earned FCS National Punter of the Week.
Pruitt, the 2013 CFPA FCS Tight End Award winner, finished Saturday's contest with nine receptions for 106 yards and two touchdowns. Pruitt's performance helped the Salukis down conference opponent Western Illinois 34-17.
Southern Illinois punter Nick Neidig also earned national honors, sharing the CFPA National Punter of the Week award. Neidig punted four times in Saturday's contest for 207 yards (51.8 avg). Neidig's first punt of the game was a 75-yarder, which was downed at the WIU one-yard line. Neidig also had a 52-yarder downed at the WIU six-yard line in the fourth quarter.
The CFPA is in its seventh year of player and team performance recognition. The 2014 CFPA Awards will be announced January 14, 2015.
