FORT WORTH, Texas - For the second-straight game, No. 2 TCU's offense struck early, jumping out to a 10-0 lead after three innings. The Horned Frogs (3-0) earned the series sweep over Southern Illinois (0-3) with an 11-0 victory Sunday afternoon at Lupton Stadium.

"I still think that we did a lot of good things this series," Saluki head coach Ken Henderson said. "I thought that our defense was outstanding, especially our infield defense. We made some outstanding plays. We knew it was going to be a challenge, but I don't think that our kids were scared and they battled all weekend."

The Salukis were never able to get anything going offensively against TCU's strong pitching. SIU scattered three hits over nine innings in the contest. Will Farmer, Greg Lambert, and J.C. DeMuri collected the hits for the Salukis.

TCU jumped out early, scoring three runs in the first inning before exploding for seven runs in the third. After that, the Salukis were able to hold TCU to one run the rest of the game. Austin McPheron, Connor McFadden, Austin Covers, and Colten Selvey combined to throw the final five innings, giving up just three hits and one run.

"Our bullpen did a great job today," said Henderson. "Those guys did a great job throwing up zeroes."

Southern will continue it's road trip with a Wednesday afternoon contest at Austin Peay, before heading to Richmond, Ky., for a three-game series Feb. 20-22 at Eastern Kentucky.
