SIU's Aaron Hauge named MVC Pitcher of the Week

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois pitcher Aaron Hauge has been named Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week, the Valley announced on Monday.

Hauge pitched his best game of the season on Friday, when he held No. 19 Illinois scoreless for eight innings. The redshirt senior allowed seven hits while tying a career-high with six strikeouts. It was the second time in Hauge's career that he has helped SIU to shut out an opponent. Hauge's performance also propelled SIU to its first win over a ranked team since 2012.

This is Hauge's first career MVC Pitcher of the Week honor and the first for a Saluki pitcher this season. Southern returns to action on Tuesday with a 5 p.m. game against UT-Martin.
