WICHITA, Kan. - Southern Illinois pitcher Aaron Hauge was selected to the All-Missouri Valley Conference Second Team, the Valley announced on Tuesday. The redshirt senior was SIU's third Second Team selection in the last two seasons.
"This is a big honor and we could not be more proud of Aaron's accomplishments," said SIU head coach Ken Henderson. "The fact that he missed the last four weeks and was still recognized by the other coaches speaks volumes about his year."
Hailing from Homewood, Ill., Hauge was one of the top pitchers in the MVC. The LHP leads SIU with three wins and 62 strikeouts in 11 appearances. His ERA of 1.54 in MVC games leads the league. His best performance of the season came in a 2-0 win at No. 2 Illinois. Hauge limited the Illini to seven hits in eight shutout innings. His performance in that game earned him his first career MVC Pitcher of the Week honor.
The Salukis open up MVC tournament play on Wednesday, as they take on No. 1 seed Missouri State. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
