The Saluki Softball team got its first win of the year with a four-run comeback in the final two innings against UMBC. Shaye Harre capped the comeback with a walkoff RBI single in the bottom of the seventh. SIU kept the comeback trend going all year long. Eleven of the team's 21 wins were of the come-from-behind variety.
Six times SIU overcame a deficit of at least three runs to win or tie. SIU trailed Morehead State by four runs in the seventh inning, but Shaye Harre's grand slam tied the game and Sydney Jones followed with a two-run bomb to win it for SIU.

Southern trailed by five runs in the final inning against Northern Colorado before sending the game to extras with a five-spot in the seventh. Meredith Wilson hit a homer in the eighth to get SIU a 10-10 tie.

Southern started conference play 6-0--thanks in part to three comeback wins. SIU overcame a four-run deficit against both Bradley and Wichita State, winning both games with walk-offs. Sydney Jones hit a two-run jack against Bradley in the 10th inning, and Brook Womack hit a walk-off RBI single to beat Wichita in game two.

The biggest comeback of the year came against Indiana State. SIU trailed 6-0 through four innings before scoring seven unanswered runs to win 7-6 in eight. Jessa Thomas was the spark, hitting two doubles and collecting 4 RBIs in the win. Meredith Wilson hit the game-winning RBI single in the eighth inning.
