Men's golf hosts fundraising golf tournament

CARBONDALE, IL.-- The SIU men's golf team is offering the chance to play with and against Division I golfers in an upcoming fundraising tournament.
On August 14 the Salukis will host the 2015 SIU men's golf scramble at Crab Orchard Golf Club in Carterville, Ill. The tournament will consist of teams of six golfers. Teams of five golfers will have the opportunity to buy current and former players from the SIU men's golf team in a silent auction the day before the event to be their sixth golfer.
Tournament festivities will begin with a fundraising dinner and player auction on August 13 at Pinch Penny Pub's beer garden from 6 to 9 p.m., admission is $20 per person and includes a barbecue dinner as well as a complimentary soft drink or draft beer.
Teams that cannot attend the silent auction will be paired with a former or current Saluki to comprise their six-person team.
The tournament will begin at 1 p.m., August 14 with a shotgun start. Following play a dinner will be held to honor the 1964 National Championship Saluki golf team. All participants are encouraged to attend.
The entrance fee for each team of five golfers is $750, or $150 per golfer.
Sponsorship opportunities also exist for the tournament. The deadline to signup is August 7 and registration is limited to the first 22 teams.
