Leo Vincent named MVC Newcomer of the Week

Southern Illinois junior guard Leo Vincent was named the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week, the league announced Monday evening.

Vincent came off the bench to score a career-high 24 points and spark the Salukis to rally from a 12-point deficit to beat Illinois State last Wednesday. He hit 6-of-7 from long range and his 3-pointer with 24 seconds remaining was the game winner. He followed that performance up with a 14-point outing in a win at Drake on Sunday.

Vincent averaged 18.0 points on the week, shot .526 from the field, .600 from 3-point and was 10-for-10 from the free throw stripe.
