Yang wins MVC Golfer of the Week

Saluki women's golfer Kristie Yang was named the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week today. This is her first time winning the award and the third time a Saluki has been named Golfer of the Week this season. Yang's fellow senior Brooke Cusumano has been named Golfer of the Week twice this season.

Yang won her first tournament of her career while helping the Salukis to their second win of the season on Tuesday at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate in Dickson, Tennessee. Yang shot a 71, the second lowest single-round score of her career, in the opening round and a 77 in the second to edge out Austin Peay's Taylor Goodley by one stroke for the title. Yang's previous best tournament finish was a fourth-place performance last season.

The California native has been on a bit of a hot streak lately. Two weeks ago at the MVC Preview, Yang shot a career-low 70 in the second round. Head coach Alexis Mihelich said that round gave Yang a lot of confidence which is a big part of her run of recent performances.
