Four Salukis earn summer All-Star nods

Hutchins, Lambert, Kopach and Smith all named to All-Star teams
Nick Hutchins, Connor Kopach, Greg Lambert, and Ryan Smith were all named to All-Star teams in their respective leagues this summer. Hutchins, Kopach and Lambert all play in the Northwoods League, and Smith earned a spot in the West Coast League All-Star game.

NORTHWOODS LEAGUE ALL-STARS
- Nick Hutchins and Connor Kopach were two of five players on the Kalamazoo Growlers to earn All-Star spots.
- Hutchins is the top-hitting catcher in the 18-team league at .321.
- He leads Kalamazoo in batting average (.321), triples (2), home runs (3), and RBIs (22).
- Kopach leads the league in stolen bases (21). He also leads the Growlers in runs scored and ranks fourth in average.
- Greg Lambert was one of three players on the Willmar Stingers to earn an All-Star spot.Â
- Lambert ranks third in the league in RBIs and sixth in runs created.
- Kalamazoo and Willmar are a combined eight games over .500 overall just over the mid-way point in the summer.
- SIU is the only program to have three all-stars in the Northwoods League.
WEST COAST LEAGUE ALL-STAR
- Ryan Smith was one of two Gresham GreyWolves to earn an All-Star nod.Â
- Smith ranks 10th in the West Coast League with a .317 average.Â
- He also ranks in the top-10 in the WCL in walks (3rd), hits (4th), runs created (4th), on-base percentage (5th), doubles (6th) and RBIs (8th).
- Smith has the most starts this summer of all outfielders in the WCL.
- Smith's GreyWolves have won five-straight games to open the second half of the summer.
DETAILS
- Both All-Star games will take place on Tuesday, July 19.
- The West Coast League All-Star game will start at 5 p.m. CT, and the Northwoods League All-Star game will start at 7 p.m. CT.
- The West Coast League will have a home run derby before the game; the NWL's home run derby will take place on Monday, July 18.
