Andrus, Turner set to join the 2017 team
CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Saluki Softball team added two players to 2017 roster, head coach Kerri Blaylock announced on Wednesday. Haley Andrus (Infield, University of Kentucky) and Brittany Turner (outfield / Lake Land College) will each have two seasons of eligibility when they join the team this season and will be immediately eligible to play.
Andrus played her first two seasons at the University of Kentucky. She played in five career games, going 3-for-5 with a two-run homer and three RBIs. She also earned a spot on the SEC Academic Honor Roll. In high school, Andrus won three state championships and was a three-time All-State selection. She hit 30 career home runs, 59 doubles, 196 RBIs and had a .795 slugging percentage. Her travel team earned two top-10 finishes at ASA nationals.
Turner played two seasons at Lake Land College, where she was first-team All-Conference in 2016. She was a two-time NJCAA All-America Academic Team selection and helped lead the Lakers to a GRACC championship in 2015 and a Region 24 championship in 2016. She was dominant in her two seasons, hitting .344 (121-for-352) over her two seasons. She showed both power (24 career doubles and 60 RBIs) and speed (29-for-30 on stolen base attempts).9.18.25 | Drew Steffe with Rodney Watson
