The Saluki Women's golf team finished day one of the APSU Intercollegiate in first place, 13 strokes in front of second place Louisiana at Monroe.
The Dawgs finished with a two-round total of 606, putting the team sixth in all-time low 36 hole scores in the Saluki Golf record book.
Leading the Salukis was senior Alice Ho. Ho ended the second round in fourth place for the team. She scored a 77, five over par, in round one, and shot even par 72 in round two. Her total score of 149 was only three strokes away from first place Mallory Sullivan from Belmont.
Right behind Ho was freshman Moyea Russell. Russell ended in fifth place after the first day only two strokes off of Ho.
Senior Hanna Netisingha, Sophomore Lili Klekner-Alt, and Freshman Emilyee McGiles all finished within ten strokes of first place. Neitisngha ended tied eighth, Klekner-Alt in tenth, and McGiles tied for 11th.
Sophomore Erica Kerr finished tied for 27th, six strokes off McGiles.
"We got the ball to the hole and that was our goal," Head Coach Alexis O'Brien said. "We had a lot of good looks at birdies and we plan on making them tomorrow."
O'Brien said the team does plan on cleaning up their game and making the shots they missed on Monday.
The Salukis continue to fight for first place as the APSU Intercollegiate continues Tuesday. Play begins with a shotgun start 8:30 a.m. at the Clarksville Country Club. Live scoring can be found on golfstat.com.
