Men's Golf off to strong start at LSU invitational

The Southern Illinois men's golf team got off to a strong start with a fifth-place showing after day one of LSU's David Toms Intercollegiate on Friday. The Salukis (+14) are four strokes shy of third place and 14 strokes off the pace set by host LSU.

SIU junior Peyton Wilhoit led the team with an even-par round of 72. He is tied for fifth place overall and is only four shots out of first. As e team, Southern carded 13 birdies with Hunter York (+3) and Wilhoit (E) each with four.

Tomorrow the Salukis will tee off at 8:30 AM for the second and third rounds. Live stats are available on GolfStat.com.
