
Salukis finish day one at Chi-Town Classic

The SIU Women's Golf Team finished the first round of the Chi-Town Classic hosted by Chicago State University on Monday in first place.

The Salukis round one score of 304 sits the team on top of the leaderboard, two strokes in front of second place Illinois-Chicago.

Senior Hanna Netisingha is in first at the tournament after shooting a two-under par 70 in the first round. In second is Natalia Campbell from Holy Cross and is only one stroke behind Netisingha.

"Hanna played great," Head Coach Alexis O'Brien said. "She made a lot of birdies and I know she can go out tomorrow and repeat her round from today or go even lower."

In 12th place is SIU freshman Emilyee McGiles. McGiles is three-over par 75 and only five strokes off of first place. Freshman Moyea Russell is currently 15th with a 78 and sophomore Erica Kerr is tied for 16th only one stroke off Russell.

Due to daylight, Southern was only one of three teams to finish round one. The opening round will be completed tomorrow due to darkness.
