Volleyball closes out regular season with loss at Valparaiso

The Southern Illinois volleyball team fell to Valparaiso in three, 25-22, 25-20, 25-17, Saturday night in ARC Arena in the Salukis final regular season match.Â
Andrea Estrada led the Salukis with 12 kills and 10 digs for her 57th career double-double. She hit at a .500 clip in her final appearance in the maroon and white, as she put down 12 kills on 22 swings against one error. Patience Brown added seven kills while Kolby Meeks chipped in five kills.
SIU's setter Rachel Maguire picked up her seventh double-double of the year with 14 assists and 11 digs on the night.
Taylor Graboski led the Crusader offense hitting a match-high .407 with 12 kills and just one error in 27 attempts.
A 4-0 run broke an 8-8 tie in set one. The Salukis got to within two, 24-22 on a pair of Valpo errors, but a sideout kill gave the Crusaders a 25-22 win.Â
The Salukis led 15-12 at the media timeout in set two, but the Crusaders scored six of the next seven points to take an 18-16 advantage. Three-straight points, highlighted by back-to-back aces by Alysa Sutton, gave Southern the lead right back at 19-18. Valpo closed on a 7-1 run to take a 2-0 set lead.
The Crusaders limited the Salukis to a .026 hitting percentage and hit .333 to take the set three, 25-12.
