Student-Athlete Lip Sync Battle set for April 5

Southern Illinois student-athletes will host a lip sync battle in SIU Arena at 7 p.m. on April 5, 2017. All proceeds will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Carbondale.
Teams of student-athletes will perform choreographed acts in the hopes of impressing a panel of celebrity judges. Celebrity judges include Dr. Phil Anton, Saluki Athletics compliance coordinator Kevin Kendrick and Tina Carpenter of the Boys and Girls Club. Acts will be judged on creativity, crowd enthusiasm, originality and choreography, with bonus points given for coach and staff involvement.
Seven Saluki teams have already signed up for the event, as members of SIU's football, women's basketball, men's track and field, women's track and field, volleyball and men's and women's swimming and diving teams are all set to compete.
Tickets are currently on sale for $3. Tickets at the door on the day of the event are $5. Last year's talent show raised more than $1,400 for the Boys and Girls Club of Carbondale.
The fundraiser will also feature a raffle, with tickets available for purchase at the event. One ticket is $1, while 10 tickets can be purchased for $5. Prizes include t-shirts, gift cards and various other items.
