CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois baseball team signed Mineral Area College's Kenton Crawford to a National Letter of Intent on Monday. Crawford will be a junior for the Salukis in 2018.Â
Crawford was named to the All-Region 16 team as an outfielder on Monday. He hit .376 with 13 doubles, eight home runs, and 48 RBIs. He was 25-for-27 stealing bases in 2017. His 25 stolen bags ranked 32nd in the nation among junior college players. Crawford led the team in batting average, doubles, home runs, RBIs, stolen bases, and slugging percentage.Â
"Kenton is a great fit with us and our needs for next year," SIU head coach Ken Henderson said. "He is a physically gifted athlete that possesses the offensive tools to hit in the middle of the order while also having the speed to steal bases and run down balls in the outfield. He will be an exciting player, and we are thrilled that he has decided to join the Saluki family." Â
