Harre, Patterson named MVC First-Team Scholar-Athletes

ST. LOUIS, MO. - Â Seniors, Shaye Harre and Merri Anne Patterson, were both named to the Missouri Valley Conference's Scholar-Athlete First-Team, the conference announced Monday. This is the third consecutive year that both Salukis have earned first team honors.
Harre and Patterson both hold a 3.9 GPA in the classroom and were named to Academic All-District teams earlier this season and selected as All-MVC First-Team selections. This season was the first year Harre and Patterson won a MVC title while at SIU, going 17-8 in conference play and then 3-0 at the championships. The conference tournament championship earned SIU an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament where Southern will join 63 other teams. The senior duo will lead the Salukis as they travel to Oxford, Mississippi for the NCAA tournament this weekend.Â
