SIU finishes fourth in MVC, will face Wichita State in MVC Tournament

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois baseball team finished the 2017 season in fourth place in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Salukis will face fifth-seeded Wichita State in the MVC Tournament in Springfield, Mo., on Wednesday.

The Salukis (10-10 MVC) and Shockers (10-11 MVC) will play at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24. Top-seeded Missouri State hosts the tournament and will face Illinois State in the opening round on Southern's side of the bracket. The format is two, four-team brackets in double-elimination format. The winners of the two brackets will play a single-elimination championship game.

SIU also finished fourth last year. The Salukis have finished in the top-four in the MVC in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 2002-05.
