Connor Kopach earns spot on CPL Select Team, will face USA Collegiate National Team

HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. - Saluki Baseball senior-to-be Connor Kopach earned a spot on the Coastal Plain League Select Team, the league announced Friday. Kopach and the CPL Select Team will face the USA Collegiate National Team on Monday at 2 p.m. CT at the USA Baseball Training Complex in Cary, N.C.

Kopach leads the CPL in total bases (45), stolen bases (13) and double plays turned (12). He's third in the league in runs (17) and fifth in hits (26). Kopach is hitting .321 through 20 games.

Kopach was honorable mention All-MVC and a member of the MVC All-Defensive Team in 2017 as a junior at SIU. He led the MVC and ranked fourth nationally with 33 steals, and he also hit for power with 14 doubles, four triples and four home runs.

A committee comprised of league coaches, league officials and Major League scouts selected the team. The roster is broken down as follows: catchers (2), first basemen (2), second basemen (2), shortstops (2), third basemen (2), outfielders (6), designated hitters/utility (3) and pitchers (9).

UPDATE | Kopach went 2-for-2 with a double, two runs scored and three RBIs. The CPL Select Team beat the USA Collegiate National Team, 10-0.
