The Saluki Women's Golf Team broke two Salukis records after the first two rounds of the Cardinal Classic on Monday.
The Dawgs had an overall score of 586, putting the 2017-18 team in second place for All-Time Low 36-hole Team Score.  The team also became second in Best-Second Round Scores with a score of 289 in Round two.
The Salukis are in fourth place, six strokes off of third place Toldeo. The University of Indianapolis is on top of the leaderboard for day one with a score of 569. The Salukis are 17 strokes away from the top.
"The course is really scoreable and we made more birdies than we usually do," Head Coach Alexis O'Brien said. "We have been working on club selection and getting the ball to the hole so we get more looks at bird. What we have been doing in practice has prepared us to be aggressive on our approach shots"
Freshman Moyea Russell ended with the lowest score for the Salukis, 144. She shot even on par and is tied for eighth currently. Jacinta Pikunas from Akron University is in first place with a score of 138. Russell is just six strokes away from first.
"Moyea is a strong competitor," O'Brien said. "She gets into tournament play and that's when her best golf comes out. She executed on some tough shots and played smart."
Not far behind Russell was freshman Emilye McGiles and senior Hanna Netisingha. Mcgiles is tied for 16th, two over par, with an overall score of 146 and Netisingha is tied for 21st scoring a 147.
The Salukis finish the Cardinal Classic at tomorrow at 9 a.m. in Muncie, Ind.
