ST. LOUIS — Tyjuana Eason and Isaac Ingram have been named Missouri Valley Conference Athletes of the Week, the Valley announced Tuesday. Eason earned MVC Women's Track Athlete of the Week following her record-setting performance at the Black and Gold Premier over the weekend, while Ingram earned his third MVC Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors of the season after he moved up to seventh nationally in the weight throw with his PR at the Indiana Relays.
Women's Track | Tyjuana Eason | Kankakee, Ill.
Eason broke her own school record in the 200m dash and helped SIU to a runner-up finish in the 4x400 relay at the Black and Gold Premier, hosted by the University of Iowa, over the weekend. Eason broke her own school record in the 200m with a time of 24.47. It marked her second win in the 200m this season, and she is ranked second in the Valley in the event and 82nd nationally. The Kankakee, Ill. native also ran the third leg of 4x400 relay that finished second and recorded what would be the second-best mark in the MVC if SIU didn't already own the best time at 3:45.38, set at the Vanderbilt Invitational on Jan. 19, 2018.
Men's Field | Isaac Ingram | Harrisburg, Ill.
Isaac Ingram threw a personal-best 71'-7.5" (21.83m) to win the weight throw for the fourth-straight meet at the Indiana Relays. It also marked the fourth-straight meet in which Ingram has upped his personal-best in the event and moved the Harrisburg, Ill. native past Mark Milleville for third on SIU's all-time list. Ingram currently owns the best mark in the Valley and seventh-best mark in the NCAA.
