The Saluki softball team added to its recruiting class today with the announcing of its fourth signing for the 2018 season.
Â
Holly Marousek, a pitcher currently playing at Lake Land College in Mattoon, will join the team as a sophomore in 2018 and will add pitching depth to a roster that is set to lose senior captain Savanna Dover.
Â
"We wanted to bring in additional pitching for the 2018 class and feel that we really found a good one in Holly. She has great presence on the mound and competes very hard. She will be a great compliment to [Brianna Jones]. We are very excited to have Holly join our Saluki family."
Â
Marousek is currently 14-3 in 84.2 innings with the Lakers. She's struck out 45 batters and posted six complete games. Marousek played her high school ball at Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School in Chicago. At Mother McAuley she posted a career ERA of 0.98 and was a three-time All-Conference selection from 2015-2017. She was named a Chicago Sun Times Top-100 player in Chicago all four years in high school. Marousek played travel ball in high school for the Beverly Bandits where she helped the team to a win at the prestigious Boulder Independence Day Tournament.
Â
Marousek joins the 2018 class as its fourth player. In the fall, the Salukis added shortstop Ashley Wood, catcher and third baseman Sidney Sikes and outfielder Nicole Johnson.
