Salukis earn No. 5 seed, will face Indiana State in MVC Tournament

The Southern Illinois baseball team earned the No. 5 seed in the upcoming Missouri Valley Conference tournament. The Salukis will face No. 4-seed Indiana State on Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. in Dallas, Texas. All games in the MVC Tournament will be broadcast on ESPN+.Â
All eight MVC teams make the conference tournament. The tournament format is two four-team brackets that each play double-elimination formats. The winners of the two brackets play each other for a single-elimination championship game. The tournament champion gets the MVC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Top-seeded Missouri State and No. 8-seed Evansville are the other two teams on SIU's side of the bracket, along with Indiana State.Â
SIU is in the 4-5 game for the third-straight year. The Salukis are one of three MVC programs to finish in the top-5 of the league each of the last three years, along with Indiana State and Dallas Baptist.Â
