Peyton Wilhoit named Division I PING All-Region

Southern Illinois men's golfer Peyton Wilhoit has added to his list of awards from the 2017-18 season, becoming the first golfer in school history to earn PING All-Region team honors. A junior at SIU, Wilhoit was one of 25 players named to the Midwest region team and he was the only Missouri Valley Conference player on the squad.

The MVC Player of the Year became just the second individual in program history to advance to the NCAA Regionals, where he finished 37th out of 75 competitors. He placed ahead of seven golfers ranked in the Top 75.

Wilhoit's season highlights include winning tournaments hosted by Kennesaw State and William & Mary, taking fifth place at LSU, and third place at both South Florida and Arkansas State. He had a run of seven-straight top-15 tournament finishes and won the MVC Player of the Week award eight times. He was also an MVC Scholar-Athlete team honoree.
