CARBONDALE, Ill. — The Southern Illinois University volleyball battled against Murray State in the final match of the Saluki Invitational, but the Racers attack was too much as the Salukis fell, 3-0 (23-25, 14-25, 18-25). Maggie Nedoma was named to the All-Tournament Team, as the sophomore from Brook Park, Ohio led the Salukis in kills in all three matches and totaled 41 kills (4.10/set) on the weekend.

How It Happened
- The Salukis trailed 9-3 early in the first set before using a 7-1 spurt to tie the frame at 10-all. The two sides traded back-to-back points before five-straight points by the Racers gave the visitors a 17-12 advantage. Southern clawed back to within one, 20-19 on an ace by Nedoma. With the Racers at set point, Southern scored three-straight to get to within one but Murray State sided-out to take the frame.
- Murray State took the lead for good early in the second set and led by as many as seven before a pair of aces by Kat Wagner highlighted a 6-0 run that got Southern to within one, 11-10.The Racers scored nine of the next 10 points, however, to seal the set and a 2-0 lead.
- It was the Salukis who got off to a quick start in the third set, as back-to-back kills by Nedoma and a kill by Patience Brown staked SIU to a 4-1 lead.
- Southern grew its lead to four, 9-5 on a kill by Rachel Maguire but the Racers answered with a 5-1 run to tie the set at 10-all.
- The two sides exchanged points and remained tied at 15-all before Murray State pulled ahead courtesy of a 9-2 run.
Inside the Match
- Maggie Nedoma led the Salukis with 12 kills to go along with six digs, three assists and an ace. It marked the sixth-straight contest in which the sophomore opposite hitter has put down 10-plus kills.
- Southern tied a season-best with seven blocks. Patience Brown finished with a team-high four block assists while Emma Baalman added a solo stuff and two assists. Brown also hit .308 with six kills.
- Alayna Martin recorded her fourth assist-dig double-double of the season, as she tallied 24 assists and added 10 digs.
- Alison Thomas put up 11 digs, which marked the sixth-straight match in which she has recorded double-digit digs.
