
Beibei Ji wins both diving events verses Indiana State

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois women's diving team faced off against Indiana State in a non-scored contest fielded with six divers Friday afternoon at Shea Natatorium. The Salukis won both events against the Sycamores, who have yet to lose a dual meet this season.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
Saluki diver Beibei Ji led the charge with victories in both the one- and three-meter dives with scores of 303.90 and 323.55. Beibei's three-meter score of 323.55 was a career best, beating out her previous high of 316.05.Â
Baobao Ji finished close behind with second-place finishes in the one- and three-meter dives. The junior dived to a season-best score of 299.77 in the three-meter, while finishing less than two points shy of her season-best in the one-meter with a score of 291.37.Â
Southern also received a noteworthy performance from Madeleine Cieszynski. She took a season-best third place in the one-meter (216.97), beating out two-time MVC Diver of the Week Keara Shelton (216.14). Cieszynski scored 226.87 in the three-meter, good for fourth overall.Â
Freshman diver Laura Mircea finished sixth in both the one- and three-meter with scores of 202.57 and 183.00.Â

The Saluki divers will be back in action tomorrow, Jan. 19 at 11 a.m. against Missouri Valley Conference opponent Arkansas-Little Rock.Â
