The Southern Illinois men's basketball team hosts Northern Iowa on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in SIU Arena. SIU and UNI are meeting for the second time in 18 days after the Salukis pulled out a 58-51 win in Cedar Falls on January 5. The Panthers are the first MVC team SIU has played twice this season.

THE RUNDOWN

Southern Illinois looks to snap a four-game skid when Northern Iowa visits Carbondale on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
SIU and UNI are meeting for the second time in the last 18 days. SIU won the first matchup, 58-51, in Cedar Falls on Jan. 5.
SIU leads the MVC in field goal percentage defense (.415), and that mark is the best for any SIU team since 2005-06 (.405).
SIU senior center Thik Bol recorded two blocks on Sunday against Bradley, putting him at 99 blocks in his two-year SIU career. With his next block, Bol will become the sixth player in SIU history with 100 career blocked shots. Among two-year players, Bol is approaching Rod Camp's school record of 107 blocked shots.

Southern Illinois hosts Northern Iowa on Wednesday night at SIU Arena. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
SIU leads the all-time series, 35-30. SIU has won three-straight in the series, its longest winning streak in the series since 2003-04.
Eight of the last nine meetings have been decided by single digits. SIU scrapped out an 11-point win in Carbondale last year for the lone exception.
SIU has five players averaging double figures. UNI is led by freshman star AJ Green, who, at 15 ppg, is UNI's lone double-figure scorer.
Expect a low-scoring game: only two of the last 15 meetings have seen the winner reach 70 points. UNI is 291st nationally in tempo; SIU is 323rd.
SIU's win in Cedar Falls on Jan. 5 marked the first time SIU won back-to-back games in Cedar Falls since 1994 and 1995.
With a win, SIU would...
- Sweep the season series from UNI for a second-straight year
- Record a four-game winning streak in the series vs. UNI for the first since 2000-02.

SIU leads the MVC in field goal percentage defense (.415). SIU has limited four of its six MVC opponents to under 41 percent shooting, and three to under 37 percent shooting.
SIU's current field goal percentage defense (.415) would be the lowest for the program since the 2005-06 (.405).
Last week, SIU held Illinois State to 36.2 percent shooting and Bradley to 35.2 percent from the field--the only time in school history SIU has lost back-to-back games in which it held both opponents under 40 percent from the field.
SIU held UNI to 31.5 percent shooting on Jan. 5, marking SIU's best defensive effort against an MVC team since Feb. 25, 2009 at Drake.
SIU has held Buffalo (62), and Saint Louis (56) to their lowest point totals this season. SIU allowed just 71 points to Kentucky, which was the Wildcats lowest total in non-conference play.
SIU held No. 25 Buffalo to 62 points on November 12, matching the best defensive performance against Buffalo in the last three seasons.
UB last scored fewer than 62 on March 1, 2016 (vs. Miami (OH) - 59 points). Buffalo averaged 85 points per game last season.
SIU held Buffalo, Arkansas Pine Bluff and Howard all under 40 percent shooting. The last time SIU held three-straight opponents under 40 percent shooting was Dec. 6-14, 2014. (Before that: Dec. 11-19, 2011).
