Softball at home this weekend as weather forces changes

The Salukis will play two games against both Creighton and Ohio.
CARBONDALE, Ill. — With rain expected for much of the Midwest over the weekend, the Southern Illinois University softball team will not be going to Chattanooga, Tennessee for the Frost Classic but will instead host eight games featuring regional rivals at Charlotte West Stadium.
The Salukis will play four games this weekend - two against 2018 NCAA Regional qualifier Ohio and two against Creighton. Southern will open Friday, Feb. 22 against Creighton at 12:15 p.m. followed by a game against Ohio at 2:30 p.m.
After what will likely be a rain soaked Saturday, Southern will return to the diamond Sunday, Feb. 24 against Creighton at 12:15 p.m. The Salukis will close out the four-game set against Ohio at 2:30 p.m.
The Ohio Bobcats won the MAC Tournament Championship and went 40-16 a year ago. The Bobcats went on to win a pair of games the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history. Ohio is 6-3 this season and will come into Friday's contest having won two-straight.
The Creighton Bluejays went 28-15 a year ago and advanced to the Big East Title game. The Bluejays are 4-5 this season after going 3-1 at the Mean Green Classic over the weekend.
A full schedule for the weekend is below. Tickets for the event are being sold on a per-day basis and are $5 for adults, $3 for youths and children 12 years old and younger and SIU students who show their student IDs will both get in free of charge. SIU is also offering a group rate discount, with groups of 12 or more being able to buy tickets for $2.
