Will LaRue named MVC Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Southern Illinois outfielder Will LaRue was named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. LaRue led the Salukis to a 4-0 week with seven runs batted in and five stolen bases.
LaRue hit 7-for-15 (.466) over the course of four games last week. LaRue recorded three multi-hit games and tallied a run and stolen base in each game, The bulk of his impressive stat line came in SIU's home series sweep against Western Illinois. LaRue went 6-for-11 (.545) with two triples, one home run, seven RBI and five runs scored. He also stole three bases and drew two walks.
LaRue is a perfect 7-for-7 in stolen base attempts this season, which leads the MVC and is 24th in the nation. His two triples rank second in the MVC and 10th in the nation as well.
Southern Illinois travels to SEMO on Wednesday and hosts Northern Illinois for a three-game series this weekend at Itchy Jones Stadium.
