SIU finishes 7th at Jan Weaver Invitational

The Saluki women's golf team finished seventh at the 2019 Jan Weaver Invitational in Murray, Kentucky. Southern Illinois shot a final round of 306 to finish with a 54-hole total of 917 (+53) behind Missouri Valley Conference opponents Illinois State (+50) and Bradley (+50) by 3-strokes. Eastern Kentucky took home the tournament title.Â
Sophomore Emilyee McGiles (+12) led the Salukis with a three-round total of 228 to finish tied for 19th. Graduate Jackie Biggs (+14) finished tied for 25th. Junior Erica Kerr (+15) carded a 76 in the final round, sophomore Moyea Russell (+15) shot a total of 231, and sophomore Rosemarie Bundy (+15) all finished tied for 31st overall. Junior Lili Klekner-Alt (+20) carded a tournament total of 236 to finish tied for 48th with teammate Sun Jung (+20) who played as an individual.
The Salukis return to Carbondale, Illinois to prepare for the Missouri Valley Conference Championship in Chesterton, Indiana on Sunday, April 14 through Tuesday, April 16.

Miller Memorial Golf Course played to a par of 72 and 6,010 yards.
Tennessee Tech's Kate Mashburn had a hole-in-one in the first round. The TTU sophomore aced the par-3 18th hole at Miller Memorial from 150 yards.
