Saluki Athletics names Cydnee Totzke head coach of spirit teams

CARBONDALE, Ill. — Saluki Athletics announced today that Cydnee Totzke has been named the new head coach of the spirit teams.
Totzke served as head cheer coach at UW-Green Bay, where she led the co-ed team's performances at home men's and women's Phoenix basketball games and all Green Bay Packers games at Lambeau Field. Cydnee Totzke
"We are thrilled to add Cydnee to our group of outstanding head coaches," said Executive Senior Associate AD/SWA Liz Jarnigan. "With her experience and proven leadership, Saluki cheer and dance will excel as community ambassadors, and contribute to our top-notch game day experience. As we aim to win championships in all that we do, we're confident cheer and dance will contribute to that mission under her leadership."
Totzke also coached for 25 years as a varsity cheer and dance coach at Appleton West, Northland Pines, and Edgar High Schools earning a total of eight Wisconsin state championships and several top-3 finishes with her competitive cheer teams. She was a long-time board member of the Wisconsin Association of Cheer/Pom Coaches including serving as vice president of the organization from 2009-2012.
"I am so excited to dedicate my full energy and expertise to the spirit athletes at SIU," Totzke said. "Team members have identified accountability, respect, and communication as their three main goals for the 2019-2020 season. We will strive for first-class fan engagement and entertainment for Saluki athletic events as well as for the university and Carbondale community."
Totzke was four-year cheerleader and captain at UWGB while earning her bachelor's degree in business administration, and earned her master's degree in education from UW-La Crosse.
