CARBONDALE, Ill. - The SIU men's basketball program hosts Northern Iowa on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. (Note later-than-usual start time) in Banterra Center. The Panthers lead the league at 5-1 in MVC play and are receiving votes in the national top-25 poll. The first 100 students will receive a free beanie.Â

- The SIU men's basketball team hosts Northern Iowa on Wednesday, Jan. 22, at 8 p.m. in Banterra Center.Â
- SIU is 8-1 at home this year and has won seven-straight home games. SIU's seven-game home court winning streak is the longest since the 2017-18 season. The Salukis are searching for the program's first eight-game home court winning streak since 2007-08, when now head coach Bryan Mullins was a junior.
- Dating back to last season, SIU has won five-straight MVC home games. This year, SIU is 3-0 at home vs. MVC teams, with wins over Illinois State, Valpo and Drake.
- Northern Iowa is on a five-game winning streak. The Panthers are rated #38 nationally in the latest NET; they are the highest-rated team SIU has played this season. (Next highest: Saint Louis is #54).
- SIU leads the MVC and ranks 13th nationally in scoring defense, allowing just 60.2 points per game. SIU has limited Illinois State (55 points), Valpo (50), and Drake (49) all to 55 points or fewer in three wins. Northern Iowa enters the game ranked #14 nationally (of 353) in adjusted offensive efficiency, according to KenPom.
- Marcus Domask is one of only five freshmen in the nation averaging at least 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. The others: Cole Anthony (North Carolina), Landers Noley II (Virginia Tech), Tyrell Terry (Stanford), and Alex Morales (Wagner).Â
- Domask leads all MVC freshmen in both scoring and rebounding. Teammate Lance Jones leads all MVC freshman in assists (2.8 per game). Domask ranks second in assists (2.6).Â
- Fifty-two percent of SIU's scoring this season has come from freshman and sophomores.Â
- SIU leads the MVC in 3-point field goal percentage defense, limiting opponents to less than 30% from the 3-point line. In SIU's two MVC wins, the Salukis held opponents to a cumulative 12-for-67 (18%) from the 3-point line.
SALUKIS HIT THEIR FREE THROWS
- Marcus Domask missed a free throw in SIU's win over Drake on Sunday, snapping a streak of 20 consecutive made free throws
- Ronnie Suggs Jr. has an active streak of 12 consecutive made free throws
- As a team, SIU is shooting 73.5% from the charity stripe, which is on pace to be SIU's best free throw shooting season since 2004-05 (74.8%) and fifth-best free throw shooting season all-time at SIU
