VALPARAISO, Ind. - The SIU men's basketball team travels to Valparaiso for a 7 p.m. game on Wednesday, February 12. The Salukis are looking for their first win at Valpo since the Crusaders joined the MVC in 2017-18.

The SIU men's basketball team travels to Valparaiso for a 7 p.m. game on Wednesday, February 12.
SIU has won seven-straight MVC games, the longest active winning streak in the MVC and the program's longest league winning streak since 2006-07. SIU's 7-game winning streak is the 11th-longest active winning streak in the nation. (Through Feb. 10 games)
Prior to SIU's current winning streak, the Salukis were 0-7 in true road games. The Salukis are 3-0 on the road during the streak.
On Monday, Marcus Domask was named MVC Newcomer of the Week for the third time this season. Domask hit a buzzer-beating jumper to beat Missouri State, 68-66 on Saturday.
SIU is 9-3 in the MVC, the program's best MVC start through 12 games since 2006-07 (also 9-3).
SIU ranks 12th nationally (of 353) in scoring defense, allowing just 61.0 points per game. SIU also ranks top-50 nationally in fewest fouls per game (13th) and 3-point field goal percentage defense (49th). KenPom ranks SIU No. 2 in the MVC in adjusted defensive efficiency, behind Loyola.

Via Sports Reference -- Marcus Domask ranks second nationally among freshmen in Win Shares with 4.3. Domask also ranks second in the MVC among all players in Win Shares, behind only Loyola's Cameron Krutwig.

STREAKING SALUKIS

Since falling to 4-7, SIU is 11-3 in its last 14 games and has won seven-straight games in MVC play, the longest active winning streak in the league.
SIU's seven-game winning streak is the 11th longest active winning streak in the nation -- one more than Duke's 6-game streak and one away from Kansas's 8-game streak.
Within SIU's seven-game winning streak, four of those wins are over teams with a .500 or better record in the MVC, including wins over first-place Northern Iowa, third place Loyola, and two wins over 6-6 Drake.
SIU was picked last in the preseason MVC poll but is in second place right now, a game behind first-place Northern Iowa.
SIU's seven-game winning streak is the program's longest conference winning streak since 2006-07 (10-straight).
SIU has won 10-straight home games, dating back to a November 16 loss to San Francisco.
SIU's 10-game home court winning streak is its longest since winning 15-straight at home overlapping the 2005-06, 2006-07, and 2007-08 seasons.
