CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The SIU men's basketball team travels to Northern Iowa for a 1 p.m. game on Sunday, February 23. The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPNU.Â

OPENING TIP
- The SIU men's basketball team travels to Northern Iowa for a 1 p.m. game on Sunday afternoon. The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPNU. Â
- With three games remaining, UNI and Loyola are tied for first in the Missouri Valley Conference standings at 11-4. SIU and Bradley are one game back at 10-5.Â
- SIU's 10 MVC wins represent the most ever by an MVC team that was picked last in the preseason poll (since 1986).Â
- SIU won the first matchup between the schools, 68-66, on Jan. 22. The Salukis are trying to sweep the regular season home-and-home series from UNI for a third consecutive season.Â
- UNI won 14 consecutive games over SIU in Cedar Falls from 2004-17, but the Salukis have won each of the last two meetings in Cedar Falls. SIU is trying to win three-straight games over UNI in Cedar Falls for the first time in school history. Neither SIU or UNI has ever won three-straight road games in the series.Â
- SIU ranks 9th nationally (of 353) in scoring defense, allowing just 60.8 points per game. SIU also ranks top-50 nationally in fewest fouls per game (11th) and 3-point field goal percentage defense (47th).Â
- Via Sports Reference -- Among freshmen, Marcus Domask ranks sixth nationally in win shares. Among all players, Domask ranks second in the MVC in win shares with 4.6, behind Loyola's Cameron Krutwig. (UNI players Austin Phyfe, Trae Berhow, and AJ Green rank 3-4-5.)
- Domask is one of only four freshmen nationally averaging at least 14 points, 5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. The others: Cole Anthony (UNC), Anthony Edwards (Georgia), and Landers Nolley (Virginia Tech).
- Barret Benson earned Academic All-District honors. Benson has a perfect 4.0 GPA in his master's program and graduated from Northwestern in three years with a 3.63 GPA.Â
- In its last game, SIU held Evansville to 16 points in the second half, which was the fewest points SIU had allowed in a second half against a Division I opponent since 1996.Â
- Also on Thursday against Evansville, SIU shot 65.8% from the field, the eighth-best field goal percentage in a game in school history. SIU shot 75% in the first half, the seventh-best field goal percentage in a half in school history.Â
Dawg Bites: SIU is 8-0 when it has 15+ assists and 9-1 when it has more assists than its opponent ... SIU has overcome 4 double-digit deficits this season ... In the first SIU-UNI game this year, SIU won fast break points 16-0 ... Trent Brown scored a career-high 11 points in the first game against UNI ... Lance Jones entered the Jan. 22 UNI game 4-for-32 from the 3-point line. He went 4-for-7 from deep in that game and is 13-for-29 (45%) from the 3-point line since that game.
