
SIU faces tough road test at Mercer

MACON, Ga. - The SIU baseball team travels to Mercer for a three-game series this weekend. The matchups features SIU, who is 4-0 and off to its best start to a season since 1977, and Mercer, who is 3-1 and one of only four programs in college baseball to win 35+ game in each of the last 10 years (2010-19).Â

- Ian Walters has reached base in 25-straight games, dating back to late in the 2019 season. Philip Archer has reached base in 15-straight games, dating back to last year.Â
- Nick Neville is hitting .471/.500/.706 this year. He ranks 13th in the nation in hits with eight.Â
- Trey McDaniel has saved two of SIU's first four games. He is one of eight players nationally with two saves already this season. McDaniel has 21 career saves.Â
