Welcome to the Club
•  Abby Brockmeyer scored her 1,000 career point on Jan. 9 against Bradley to become just the 28th Saluki in school history to reach the 1,000-point plateau.Â
• The senior from Raymond, Ill. is the sixth active Missouri Valley Conference player to reach the mark and is joined by her teammate Makenzie Silvey.Â
• The Salukis are one of 30 teams nationally, and one of only two in the Missouri Valley Conference, to have multiple active players reach the scoring milestone.Â
Starting a New One
• Abby Brockmeyer became just the 11th player to snag 700-plus career rebounds with her 12 boards against SEMO on Dec. 13. In SIU's win over Austin Peay on Dec. 12, she became just the fifth player in program history to record triple-digit career blocks.
• The Raymond, Ill. native could also become the first player in program history to amass 1,000 career points/700 rebounds/100 steals/100 blocks and 100 assists. She is just one steal shy of reaching that milestone.
Getting a chance to shine
• Much like most of college basketball, Southern's 2020-21 schedule has undergone several iterations.
• Southern has had six games canceled, four games rescheduled and added three games against opponents who were not originally on its 2020-21 schedule.
• SIU has had several players thrust into new roles for games when other players are in quarantine as nine different Salukis have started at least one game this season.
Double-Doubles
• Abby Brockmeyer notched her 22nd career double-double at Loyola on Jan. 31 when she finished with 14 points and 13 boards.
• Brockmeyer's 22 career double-doubles are the most among active players in the Missouri Valley Conference and are the 32nd-most among active DI players nationally.
• The Salukis are 13-9 all-time when Brockmeyer records a double-double.
Climbing the List
• Makenzie Silvey passed Kylie Giebelhausen for 10th on SIUs all-time scoring list.Â
• Last season, Nicole Martin became the fifth Saluki during the Stein era to crack the Top-10 in scoring in program history. Martin joined Cartaesha Macklin (1st; 1,779), Rishonda Napier (2nd; 1,728), Dyana Pierre (7th; 1,425) and Kylie Giebelhausen (10th; 1,298) in that club.
