
Besard Tied for Third, Salukis In Ninth After Day Two of Craft Farms Intercollegiate

GULF SHORES, Ala. – Led by Matthis Besard's second-straight round of shooting two-under par, the Southern Illinois University Saluki golf program sits in ninth place through the first two rounds at the Craft Farms Intercollegiate. Cincinnati moved into first in the team standings after shooting three-under par on the day.
Southern Illinois shot seven-over par in the second round to remain in ninth. Overall, the Salukis hold a score of 594 heading into round three.
In the individual standings, junior Matthis Besard is in a tie for third after finishing the day with a team-best score of 140. Freshman Justin Wingerter sits just six strokes shy of Besard at a score of 146. The Olathe, Kan., native saw a four-stroke improvement through round two to finish the day one-under par.
Tom Cleaton sits in a tie for 47th after recording a second round score of 76. Birgir Magnusson is tied for 61stwith his score of 156 (78-78), while Andrew Thornton is in 75th with a score of 167 (88-79).
