All-Time Series vs. the Panthers
• The Salukis and the Panthers will meet for the 78th time Friday, with UNI holding a 43-34 advantage in the all-time series.
• UNI has won five-straight in the series.
•Southern's last win in the series came at home on Jan. 5, 2018- a 60-53 overtime win.
• The Salukis hold a 19-17 record against the Panthers on their home floor.
Last Time They Met:
• Four Salukis scored in double figures but it wasn't enough as UNI held on for a 71-66 overtime win on Feb. 9, 2020.
• The Salukis led by as many as eight in the second half but the pesky Panthers chipped away, doing most of their work at the charity stripe.Â
• The Panthers shot more free throws in the fourth quarter and overtime period (20) than the Salukis did during the entire game (19).
• Coming out of a timeout down 68-66 with :36 to play in overtime, the Salukis had five put back attempts rim out that would have tied the game with under :10 seconds to play.
MVC Tournament Update
• Southern will be the 8th seed in the upcoming MVC Tournament.Â
• The Salukis will likely face Indiana State in the No. 8 vs. No. 9 game on Thursday.Â
• Evansville plays its final two games against No. 19 Missouri State, while Indiana State closes out its season with a series against Bradley.Â
• The two Indiana schools split their season series. Indiana State's other MVC victory came against Loyola, while Evansville lone other MVC win came against Valparaiso.
• It will mark the fifth time in program history, and first time since 2008-09, that Southern will be the eighth seed at the conference tournament.
• SIU is 0-4 all-time as the eighth seed at the conference tournament. Note: The MVC went to a 10-team tournament in 2006. Prior to that, the eighth seed faced the No. 1 seed in the first round of the eight team tournament. Two of SIU's four appearances as the eighth seed, 2006 and 2009, came during the current 10-team tournament era.
• The eighth-seed has twice won the MVC tournament. In 2005, Illinois State won three-straight games to punch its ticket to the big dance. Two years later, Drake won four-straight tournament games, which included a 65-64 overtime win over sixth-seeded Creighton Blue Jays in the MVC Championship game.
• The eighth-seed is 6-8 all-time against the ninth-seed since the MVC Tournament went to a 10-team field in 2006.
Climbing up the list
• Makenzie Silvey averaged 17.5 points over the weekend to continue to move up SIU's all-time scoring list.Â
• She passed Dyana Pierre for seventh on Saturday and now sits just 15 points shy of passing Petra Jackson for sixth on Southern's all-time list.Â
• Silvey, who will get another year of eligibility back because of the NCAA's ruling on COVID, is currently 319 points shy of breaking Cartaesha Macklin's school record of 1,779 that she set in 2016.
• Silvey could become the first player in program history to amass at least 1,400 career points/400 rebounds/250 assists/200 three-pointers/150 steals in a career. The Glen Carbon, Ill. native needs seven boards and four steals to accomplish the feat.
Where Silvey ranks in school history:

• The school record for 20-plus assist games in a season is nine, set during the 1989-90 season.
• SIU has assisted on 63.6-percent of its shots this season, which ranks 30th nationally.
Three with 1,000 career points
• Makenzie Silvey scored her 1,000th career point as a junior while Abby Brockmeyer joined her in the 1,000 point club earlier this year.
• This past weekend, Gabby Walker joined the duo in the 1,000 point club with her career-high 20 points over No. 19 Missouri State on Feb. 24.
• Walker scored 689 career points in her two seasons at NCAA DII Lindenwood, and has scored 345 points in her two seasons at SIU.
• Walker has nearly doubled her scoring average in her second season in the Maroon and White, as she is averaging 9.7 points per game this season- up from 5.4 ppg a year ago.
• The Salukis are one of 11 teams nationally with three 1,000-point scorers on their roster. Air Force, Arizona, Arkansas, DePaul, Gonzaga, North Carolina, Ohio, Syracuse, Tennessee Tech and Texas A&M are the others.
4 wins shy of 400
• Head coach Cindy Stein is approaching another significant coaching milestone, as she is four wins shy of 400 for her career.
Starting a New Club
• Abby Brockmeyer became just the 11th player to snag 700-plus career rebounds with her 12 boards against SEMO on Dec. 13. In SIU's win over Austin Peay on Dec. 12, she became just the fifth player in program history to record triple-digit career blocks.
• The Raymond, Ill. native could also become the first player in program history to amass 1,000 career points/700 rebounds/100 steals/100 blocks and 100 assists. She just needs one steal to reach that milestone.
