CARBONDALE, Ill. — In what could turn out to be a winner-take-playoff-berth scenario, No. 17-ranked Southern Illinois hosts No. 15-ranked Southeastern Louisiana at noon on Saturday in the regular-season finale for both clubs. The socially distanced game is sold out and no tickets will be available on game day.
The Salukis (4-3) have not played the last two weekends after Illinois State and Western Illinois opted out, but are clinging to hopes of an at-large bid to the 16-team FCS playoffs. The Lions (4-2) are coming off a 52-45 win over Nicholls State last weekend and also harbor playoff ambitions. Their high-powered offense, led by quarterback Cole Kelley, averages 38 points per game. The playoff field will be announced on Sunday, April 18 at 10:30 AM CT.
