Salukis Claim 9th at Wildcat Invitational

The Southern Illinois men's golf team followed up a strong second round (297) with another solid performance on Tuesday (300) during the final 18 holes to finish ninth (+50) at the K-State Wildcat Invitational, held at the Colbert Hills Golf Club in Manhattan, Kansas. Â
Sophomore Justin Wingerter fired a team-low 73 on the final day of play to finish tied for 21st at 8-over par (224). Senior Tom Cleaton carded rounds of 77, 74, and 76 for a score of 11-over, tied for 31st place. Senior Matthis Besard shot 228 (+12) to tie for 35th place. Freshman Braden Hoisington tied for 49th place, finishing at 19-over par (235). Junior Andrew Thornton finished with a score of 251 (+35) to tie for 70th. Freshman Carsen Silliman competed as an individual and took 64th place with a score of 243 (+27).Â

Southern Illinois travels back to Carbondale, Illinois in preparation for the Zach Johnson Invitational, hosted by Drake University, on September 27th & 28th in Des Moines, Iowa.Â
