
Salukis Fall Short to Bison

NASHVILLE, Tennessee -- The Southern Illinois Salukis dropped to ASUN Lipscomb Bison, 0-4, Sunday evening in Nashville. The match-up marks the fourth-to-last non-conference contest for SIU, while freshman Ary Lougher got her first collegiate start in goal in Maroon, playing a full 90-minute match.
The Bison came scoring early, with a goal from the center of the box by forward Molly Grant at the 23:41 mark off of a pass across by Cami Rogers. Following, freshman Skye Baun saw the back of the Saluki net with a tight pass into the center, following a Lipscomb corner. Forward Kammy McGee opened up points in the second half with a kick from the top corner off of a pass by Rogers, while the midfielder solidified the Bison win with a shot to the top of the goal, with a quick pass from the corner.
Goalie Ary Lougher was dominate in the box for SIU, recording eight saves during the match with many on one-on-one attempts with Lipscomb's front line. Freshman Ashley Scesniak was on the attack, leading the Salukis with four shots and two on-goal, bringing her season total to seven shots, leading the Dawgs.
SIU is back in action for the battle of Southern Illinois, as the Salukis take on the Cougars of Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville on Thursday, September 9th at 7pm.
