The Southern Illinois University volleyball team continues its seven-match homestead Tuesday with a non-conference tilt against regional rival St. Louis University on Tuesday at 6 p.m. inside Davies Gym.Â
The Billikens come into Tuesday's contest sporting a 3-3 record, having won two-straight matches after closing out play at it's home invitational with wins over Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Murray State.Â
The Salukis come in winners of three of their last four matches after they defeated Alabama A&M (3-0) and UT Martin (3-2) in back-to-back matches to open play at the Saluki Bash. The young Salukis, with just three upperclassmen on their roster, have already exceeded their win total from the 2020 spring season.
SIU holds a commanding 11-3 all-time advantage over St. Louis in a series that dates back to 1976. Southern has won 11 of the last 13 matchups, but the Billikens won the most recent meeting - a 3-1 SLU win in St. Louis on Aug. 31, 2019.Â
Southern's seven-match homestand continues this coming weekend when it hosts the Saluki Invitational inside Banterra Center. Eastern Illinois, USC Upstate and Alabama State will take part in the two-day tournament, which is slated to begin on Friday, Sept. 10.
