CHICAGO — Southern Illinois plays at first-place Loyola on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in a game televised regionally on the MVC TV Network (Bally Sports MW/IN/KC, NBC Sports Chicago, and ESPN+ outside the network footprint).
The Ramblers (14-3, 5-1) have won the last five meetings versus the the Salukis (10-9, 3-4) at Gentile Arena. In the last meeting on Feb. 27, 2021, Loyola won in overtime, 65-58. Lance Jones had a career-high 30 points, and SIU rallied from a 15-point second-half deficit to send it to OT.
The teams will play again two days later on Thursday night in Carbondale in a game that was originally scheduled for Jan. 2.
Quoting Coach Mullins
"I think everyone has been used to a back-to-back schedule from last year. We've had four games in seven days leading up to this and now we play Tuesday-Thursday. So, it's a lot of games but our guys are excited and it's a great opportunity to play a top-25 team in the country, play them at (their) home then have them come back to Carbondale – it's a great opportunity."
