The Southern Illinois Salukis will look to bounce back after their season-opening loss to Middle Tennessee when they take on Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) at 6 p.m. Wednesday inside the Banterra Center.Â
SIU fell to MTSU 90-38 on Saturday but will get a chance at redemption in front of the home crowd when the Jaguars come to Carbondale.Â
Saturday's loss for SIU snaps an 11-game home winning streak, dating back to the start of last season.Â
Sophomore Laniah Randle led the Salukis with 11 points and 7 rebounds, which was tops for the Dawgs in both categories as Randle earned her first collegiate start.Â
Promise Taylor and Sydney Prochaska were the only other Salukis to grab multiple buckets.
Southern went 12-of-50 from the field against MTSU and was 3-of-13 from beyond the arc. Â
IUPUI comes into the matchup at 1-2 with an opening loss to new Missouri Valley Conference foe, UIC, then fell to No. 7 Louisville.Â
The Jaguars are coming into Carbondale on a high note as they won at Butler, 67-61, on Sunday.Â
Jazmyn Turner (13.0 ppg, 5.7 rpg) and Natalie Andersen (10.3 ppg, 2.7 rpg) are averaging double figures for the Jags this seasonÂ
Turner and Andersen are just two of the IUPUI players that are 6-0 or taller as the Jaguars have seven players that meet that mark. Experience is also something IUPUI has in bunches as the Jags have four seniors and two graduate students on its roster.Â
Kate Bruce is in her first year at the helm of the Jaguars after she spent six years at Division II power, Walsh University, in Ohio. Bruce was 134-43 in her career at Walsh and helped guide the Cavaliers to four-straight NCAA Tournaments and is also the program's all-time winningest coach.Â
Southern Illinois and IUPUI tip at 6 p.m. Wednesday inside the Banterra Center.Â
