The Southern Illinois volleyball team heads to Missouri State on Wednesday to take on the Bears for the final match of the regular season. The Salukis can secure a first-round bye with a win, as Missouri State looks to hold on to its eighth-seed heading into the Valley Tournament.Â

Scouting Missouri State
-
The Bears are currently 9-20 (6-11 MVC) and enter the final match of the regular season as the final seed of the Valley tournament.Â
-
With a win or a Bradley loss, Missouri State will secure a spot in the conference tournament.Â
-
Averaging 1.59 aces per set, the Bears are currently tied for third in the Valley with 185 total on the year.Â
-
Similar to the Salukis, Missouri State lost its last two matches on the road at UNI and Drake.
All-Time vs the Bears
-
The Bears lead the all-time record against the Salukis with a 61-22 record going back to 1975.
-
SIU swept Missouri State (25-22, 25-17, 25-23) the first time the two teams faced off this season when the Bears made the trip to Carbondale.Â
- Â Prior to the Salukis win this season, Missouri State had won five consecutive matches and nine of the last 10.
Southern looks to bounce back after taking two losses this past weekend against UNI and Drake. The Salukis came close to ending UNI's undefeated season in the Valley on Friday after recording a season-high 15 aces but came up just short in five-sets.Â
A win for SIU would guarantee the fourth-seed in the Valley which would result in a first-round bye at the MVC Tournament (Nov. 20- Nov. 23). The match can be found on ESPN+ with first serve set for 6 p.m.
