CARBONDALE, Ill. — In recognition of Veterans Day, Saluki Athletics is offering sideline tickets for Saturday's game versus North Dakota State for only $10, by entering the online promo code "NDSU".
It's Military Appreciation Day, Senior Day and Scout Day when SIU hosts No. 4-ranked North Dakota State on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Saluki Stadium. The game is critical for both teams' playoff aspirations.
All veterans and active duty military personnel will receive free admission to the Saluki Football game. Military personnel can claim their free ticket on game day by showing a military ID. They may also purchase additional tickets for just $10 each. Scouts will also be admitted free.
During pregame, the award-winning Flying Salukis will conduct a three-plane flyover of the stadium during the National Anthem.
Southern Illinois is currently tied for third place in the Missouri Valley Football Conference standings with a 4-2 league record. The defending-champion Bison are 4-1, and battling for a playoff berth along with SIU.
The Bison have won nine of the last 10 meetings between the teams, including a 38-7 playoff win in Fargo last season on Dec. 4, 2021. SIU's only victory versus NDSU since 2010 came on Feb. 27, 2020 in Carbondale. In Nic Baker's first-career start at quarterback, he led the Salukis to a 38-14 victory that ended a 39-game winning streak for the Bison. Southern out-gained NDSU, 443-268, and had a 41:26 to 18:34 edge in time of possession. Baker completed 17-of-23 passes for 254 yards and a touchdown, and was named the MVFC Player of the Week. He's gone on to win the award six times in 25 career starts.
